Decriminalization
ProposedMultiple California cities (Oakland, Santa Cruz, San Francisco) have deprioritized enforcement of laws against natural psychedelics. A statewide decriminalization bill (SB 58) was vetoed by the governor in 2023 but revised legislation is expected in 2025-2026. Ketamine therapy is available through standard medical channels.

- •MDMA therapy through FDA clinical trials
- •Local deprioritization of natural psychedelics in Oakland, Santa Cruz, SF
Not Allowed
- •Psilocybin service centers (no state framework yet)
- •Commercial sale or distribution of psychedelics
- •Ayahuasca or ibogaine administration
How to Access
- 1.Seek ketamine therapy through licensed medical providers
- 2.Search ClinicalTrials.gov for MDMA or psilocybin trials in California
- 3.In Oakland/Santa Cruz/SF, personal use of natural psychedelics is lowest law enforcement priority
