    Texas maintains strict penalties for possession of most psychedelic substances. Psilocybin is classified as a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance. However, ketamine is available through licensed medical providers for off-label psychiatric use. The Texas legislature has funded a study on psilocybin for veterans with PTSD (HB 1802).

    What's Allowed

    • Ketamine therapy through licensed medical providers
    • FDA-approved clinical trials (limited availability)

    Not Allowed

    • Psilocybin possession or use (felony offense)
    • MDMA possession or use outside clinical trials
    • Ayahuasca or ibogaine use
    • Any unlicensed psychedelic facilitation
