Dr. John Moos — Soul Surgeon
About
Dr. John Moos spent fifteen years as a trauma surgeon before leaving the OR to study the intersection of medicine and consciousness. He trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with leading practitioners in the field and now runs a private practice in Venice, Los Angeles that serves a small, carefully selected caseload. His approach is not clinical in the traditional sense. He draws on the surgical instinct for working precisely under pressure alongside somatic therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems, using ketamine as a tool for accessing what he calls the 'pre-verbal architecture' of trauma. Sessions are long (typically 3-4 hours), deeply personalized, and followed by structured integration. Dr. Moos takes a small number of new clients per quarter and selects for people who have done prior therapeutic work and are ready to go deep. He does not operate a volume practice.
